MONITORING AND MAPPING OF INVASIVE SPECIES IN PROTECTED AREAS

Early detection by monitoring and mapping of invasive species is a priority activity that must be done continuously during the vegetation season in order to identify invasive species and the size of infested territory. Invasive plant species spread in the protected area, causing pressure on native biodiversity, protected plant species and reducing the value of protected areas.

Monitoring and mapping of invasive species will be done in 4 nature protected areas Special Nature Reserve „Selevenjske pustare” and „Ludaško jezero”, Landscape of Outstanding Qualities „Subotička peščara” and Nature Park „Palić“ in Srbia and it will cover about 7000 ha and „Kiskunság” National Park near Kecskemét, in Hungary.

Monitoring and mapping of invasive species in protected areas will be conducted in order to identify areas under invasive species especially ambrosia and it will be done before treatment of ambrosia.. It will be done during two vegetation seasons covering in protected areas.  Data will be processed continually every and will include description of invasive species, their distribution and infested surface.
